Ultrasonic Film Cleaning
Core Term Definition
Cleaning fragile film strips in a solvent bath agitated by high-frequency sound waves to dislodge dirt.
Technical Analysis & Context
Ultrasonic cleaners submerge film in a safe solvent (like Solvene) and pass high-frequency sound waves through the liquid. This causes cavitation—the rapid formation and collapse of microscopic vacuum bubbles—which gently lifts oil, grease, and dirt from the film without physical friction.
