Photochemical Color Timing
Core Term Definition
The traditional lab process of adjusting red, green, and blue printer lights to balance colors during duplication.
Technical Analysis & Context
Before digital color tools, labs adjusted color balance using physical printer lights on an optical printer. Technicians (called color timers) specified exposure values on a scale of 1 to 50 for the RGB primary light paths, altering the chemistry's exposure to correct density and hue.
