Two-Strip Technicolor
Core Term Definition
An early subtractive color process that recorded red and green records printed on separate dyed gelatin layers.
Technical Analysis & Context
Used from the 1910s to the early 1930s, Two-Strip Technicolor utilized a beam-splitter camera to expose two separate frames simultaneously behind red and green filters. These negative records were printed onto thin gelatin matrices, dyed cyan and magenta, and cemented back-to-back to create a two-color theatrical print.
